22nd Annual International Women’s Day Breakfast – London Abused Women’s Center - March 4, 2022
This morning we met at the Local virtually with the LAWC in celebration of International Women’s Day. The key note speaker was PHD Candidate and artist Cherry Smiley. Cherry’s thesis is “Not Sacred Not Squaws Indigenous Feminism Redefined.” Women have used March 8 in many ways. To demand better working conditions for female workers, to bring an end to violence against women and girls also to advocate for peace as anti-war activists. Even though it may seem hopeless at times it’s not.
“Let it all hang out. Let it seem bitchy, catty, dykey, Solanisesque, frustrated, crazy, nutty, frigid, ridiculous, bitter, embarrassing, man-hating, libelous, pure, unfair, envious, intuitive, low-down, stupid, petty, liberating. We are the women that men have warned us about.” (Robin Morgan - Goodbye to all that -1970)
